Book Sharing by Professor Philip Chen, GBS , JP
What makes a city great? How do we further solidify its position as an international aviation hub?
Professor Philip Chen, a prominent figure in Hong Kong's business and academic circles, has authored a number of books with the most recent one being Great Cities. During the Roundtable sharing session, Prof Chen will share his observations on the success of major cities around the globe. With outstanding achievements in the past 25 years, Chen is well-known for his ability to transform four major companies in Hong Kong โ Cathay Pacific, Ocean Park, Hang Lung Properties and Dragonair. The former CEO of Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties Limited, he currently is an Independent Non-Executive Director at Hang Lung Properties Limited, and Immediate Past Chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Before joining Hang Lung in 2010, he was Chairman of John Swire & Sons (China) Limited. He also served as CEO of Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited. Chen is a Professor of Practice in Management and Strategy, Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Hong Kong, a Professor of Practice (Hospitality and Tourism Strategies), School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Visiting Professor of Faculty of Economics at Sophia University, Tokyo. Chen's wide spectrum of experience and knowledge, audience will surely benefit from beyond what makes a city great.
